How to Set Up TallyDrive Cloud Backup in Tally Prime

Data loss is one of the most critical risks for businesses relying on Tally Prime for accounting. Hardware failures, ransomware attacks, or accidental deletions can erase months of financial records. TallyDrive provides an integrated cloud backup solution to protect your Tally data automatically.

This guide walks through configuring TallyDrive, scheduling automatic backups, and performing data restores.

1. Prerequisites for TallyDrive

• An active Tally.NET subscription linked to your Tally Prime license.
• Tally Prime Release 2.0 or higher installed on your system.
• A stable internet connection on the server/host computer running Tally.

2. Enabling TallyDrive in Tally Prime

1. Launch Tally Prime. Go to F1 (Help) → Tally.NET Features → TallyDrive.
2. Log in with your Tally.NET ID (registered email) and password.
3. Select the companies you want to back up from the list of active companies.
4. Click Enable TallyDrive. Tally will begin the initial cloud sync.

Even with TallyDrive active, maintain local backups as a secondary safeguard:

• Use Tally Prime's built-in Backup feature (F1 → Data → Backup) to create a compressed local backup daily.
• Store the local backup on a separate external drive or NAS device, not on the same machine as the live data.
